A recent Canary Media article highlighted Efficiency Vermont, operated by VEIC, and its Advanced Manufactured Home program as a nation-leading approach to expanding affordable, energy-efficient housing across the state. The story showcased the installation of 18 all-electric manufactured homes in Brattleboro's Tri-Park Cooperative, where residents will begin moving in later this year. Equipped with heat pumps and built to advanced efficiency standards, the homes are designed to use more than 50% less energy than conventional manufactured homes, helping residents lower their utility bills.

The program, launched by Efficiency Vermont in 2024, provides builder incentives and certifies best-in-class manufactured homes that help Vermont meet its housing, affordability, and climate goals. Peter Schneider, Principal Engineering Consultant at VEIC, highlighted the impact these homes can have on household budgets: "Certified advanced homes can save about $2,700 a year compared to existing manufactured homes and more than $1,300 compared to new homes built to federal standards."

By making efficient, all-electric homes more accessible, the program is helping Vermont families reduce energy costs while supporting healthier, more resilient communities.
