VEIC working with Maine school districts to provide electric school bus support
VEIC is partnering with the Maine Department of Education and Maine Green Schools to support school districts facing challenges with Lion Electric school buses purchased through the EPA’s Clean School Bus Program. Following the Canadian bus manufacturer's bankruptcy proceeding, many school districts in the U.S. lost their warranties, access to repair services, technical support, and replacement parts.
Through statewide outreach, VEIC is identifying districts with unresolved functional issues with their buses and providing one-on-one assistance. This includes individual meetings, help completing support documentation, researching bus-specific concerns, and connecting schools with national resources and service providers.
Through this district-focused approach, VEIC is reducing uncertainty for schools and helping them move forward with clearer information and direct access to support.
