Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC) is launching an innovative program to provide technical and financial assistance for businesses to convert their fleet to electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles. VEIC is seeking businesses with small or large commercial fleets to participate in a free pilot program this summer.

“Businesses that integrate electric vehicles into their fleet operations stand to save money, advance their sustainability goals, enhance employee satisfaction, and reinforce their business values to customers and partners alike, ” said Karen Glitman, Director of Policy and Public Affairs at VEIC. “With over 40% of greenhouse gas emissions coming from car tailpipes, reducing emissions from transportation is crucial for our planet. Electric vehicles allow us to do this while keeping our energy dollars local.”

Participants in the pilot program will receive an audit of their existing fleet operations, customized recommendations for best ways to integrate electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids into their fleet, and site assessments for electric vehicle charging stations. The program is open to private, nonprofit, and municipal organizations in Vermont that operate a commercial fleet of two or more light-duty, passenger vehicles.
