Utility Dive recently featured an opinion piece by VEIC Managing Consultant and lead heat pump water heater expert Chris Badger

In the article, Badger highlights two TECH Clean California Quick Start Grant projects that tested solutions to a common barrier to electrification – emergency replacements. The first example explores results from a no-cost loaner program model that took one company’s gas-to-electric conversions from 1% to 17%, and the second evaluates the effectiveness and affordability of incorporating emerging plug-in 120 V (volt) HPWHs into existing energy efficiency programs. Both solutions show promise, but as climate funding grows more uncertain, continuing to support innovative projects like these will play a key role in speeding up adoption in California and beyond.
