The AFP visits a D.C. Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) customer during their heat pump installation to learn what’s motivating people to take on home electrification projects across America. District resident Su Balasubramanian received an air-source heat pump, heat pump hot water heater, induction stove, and a "heavy up" electrical panel amperage upgrade — worth about $27,000 — at no cost through the DCSEU Affordable Home Electrification program.

VEIC’s CEO Rebecca Foster was also interviewed for the story. Foster zooms out on how the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is impacting electrification trends and speaks to why climate-focused early adopters are critical for raising awareness.
