On February 13, 2019 The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and Coastal Enterprises Inc. (CEI) released a study identifying strategies to transition New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine to a clean energy economy. VEIC was commissioned to research and identify opportunities and challenges to clean energy investment in the three New England states. The results were published in the “Advancing Clean Energy Investment in Northern New England” report.

VEIC concluded that it will require $100 billion of investment across the region to transition to a clean energy future. Much of this investment will occur in the energy and transportation sectors regardless of fuel type, but policy and regulatory changes and innovative public-private partnerships can enable clean energy investment choices. These investments can catalyze the creation of new jobs, expand access to renewable energy and energy efficiency, and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

The Nature Conservancy and Coastal Enterprises hosted a tri-state stakeholder forum to discuss the report findings, on February 25, 2019 in Concord, New Hampshire.
