On February 24, 2015 VEIC Principal Consultant, Elizabeth Chant, and the Chief Executive Officer of Elevate Energy, Anne Evens, were elected to the National Housing Trust (NHT) Board of Directors. Elizabeth and Anne together have four decades of experience in energy efficiency and renewable energy. At VEIC Elizabeth designs and implements energy efficiency programming for low-income people and multifamily buildings.
NHT is a leader in reducing utility costs in the properties that it owns and manages, as well as developing and implementing new models that other affordable housing providers can adopt. In a press release announcing the news, NHT Executive Director, Michael Bodaken praised the Board's decision saying, "Anne Evens and Elizabeth Chant have each provided new ways of reducing energy costs in affordable housing, and they bring extensive experience to our Board's deliberations and the Trust's depth of experience."
Elizabeth serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Home Performance Coalition, and she is on the Advisory Board of the National Energy and Utility Affordability Coalition. She also served for eight years as director of Vermont's largest low-income weatherization assistance program. During her time at VEIC she has worked on the development of a social enterprise model for the delivery of comprehensive energy services, launched low-income programming for the D.C. Sustainable Energy Utility, and pioneered statewide efficiency programming for Vermont's affordable housing.
