VEIC had the opportunity recently to spend two days with Michael Boots, Acting Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality.
VEIC Executive Director Scott Johnstone joined Chair Boots and Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin for a press conference and roundtable discussion in Rutland, Vermont, to discuss climate change resiliency and adaptation efforts. In his remarks, Scott focused on the need to address not only issues related to adaptation, but those related to climate change prevention and mitigation as well. He also described changes needed to FEMA procedures to ensure that disaster recovery efforts can take full advantage of energy efficiency opportunities.
The following day, Greg Baker, an Account Manager from VEIC’s Efficiency Vermont program, joined Chair Boots and Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT) for a tour of Husky Injection Molding Systems in Milton, Vermont. Efficiency Vermont has worked closely with Husky over the course of several years to dramatically reduce their energy usage and costs, helping them save $2 million over the last 10 years.
