  • “Assessment of Level 1 and Level 2 Electric Vehicle Charging Efficiency”          We compared the efficiency of 120V Level 1 to 240V Level 2 EVSE using data collected from over 1,000 Chevrolet Volt charging events. In all scenarios analyzed, Level 2 charging was found to be consistently more efficient than Level 1 charging. Optimum charge efficiency was observed when > 2kWh was drawn from the grid and ambient temperature was between 53-70° Fahrenheit (11-20°C).
