Electric School and Transit Bus Pilot Program Request for Qualifications

Jul 9, 2019, 09:22 AM
VEIC, under contract with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), is seeking qualifications from prospective Project Partners for an electric school and transit bus pilot program, funded by the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust (EMT). The pilot will evaluate the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of electric school and transit bus operation in the state over a two-year period. In this pilot program, the EMT funds will be used to pay for the incremental cost of electric buses (i.e. the costs above the price of a new conventional bus), as well as the required charging equipment and installations costs. Project Partners will deploy the electric buses in their regular transportation service and commit to fully scrapping each diesel-powered bus replaced. Project Partners may include supervisory unions, school districts, schools or transit providers. VEIC is interested in working with at least two school entities and one transit provider that will each replace no fewer than two diesel-powered buses with electric buses. This RFQ is intended to determine basic eligibility and level of commitment; successful applicants will be invited to respond to a subsequent Request for Proposals (RFP). Interested candidates should respond to the questions in the appropriate RFQ, available on the Vermont Business Registry website.
