Green building means:  

• incorporating sound building science to ensure that our structures are durable and resilient, and healthy to live and breathe in;
• respecting the communities and land on which buildings are constructed;
• assembling buildings with environmentally appropriate materials; and
• incorporating energy efficiency and renewable energy systems.

VEIC's Role
Since the mid 1990s, VEIC has been involved in innovative efforts locally, regionally and nationally, that analyze, quantify and develop the green building movement.  VEIC helps establish program standards and criteria, designs green building programs, advises on program approaches and effectiveness, and provides green building evaluation services.
