In the U.S., there is a growing public awareness of the EPA and DOE ENERGY STAR® label as an indicator of quality energy-saving products. VEIC staff members have been significantly involved in the design and implementation of specific ENERGY STAR programs and with similar labeling programs in other countries.
VEIC's Role
VEIC staff members maintain a high level of technical expertise with residential energy end-uses. VEIC staff helped to develop the ENERGY STAR lighting fixtures technical specification and participate in its regular revision. VEIC is also a subcontractor to ICF Consulting on direct support for the implementation of the EPA ENERGY STAR for residential light fixtures program. VEIC developed the basic concept for the Advanced Lighting Package (ALP) for promoting high penetration of ENERGY STAR lighting fixtures in residential new construction, and is working with home builders throughout the Northeast to roll out the ALP.
Through long-running program design and implementation support contracts, VEIC also plays an important role in coordinating ENERGY STAR with local and regional energy efficiency programs throughout New England. Our international consulting also has a strong standards and labeling focus.
