VEIC's Mission & 20-Year Goal
VEIC's Mission
VEIC’s mission is to reduce the costs — both monetary and environmental — of energy use.
We pursue our mission through planning, implementation, and financing of energy programs and projects and by advocating for public policies that maximize cost-effective carbon-reduction through energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Our 20-Year Goal (2007 - 2027)
We are committed to sustaining our planet and the complex balance that allows all living things to flourish. That balance is in jeopardy. We must act faster and look out further into the future than we have in the past. In order to have the greatest positive impact on people and the environment, we will “think” (consult, advocate and educate) and “act” (implement) both locally and globally, growing our work from our backyard in Vermont to the provinces of China. Our work is founded on ensuring social equity and sound economic principles that support sustainable communities. We will partner with others who share our goals and commitment. Our success in reducing greenhouse gas emissions is our collective contribution to living and championing the change we want to see in the world.
Our work will result in reducing 20 million tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent of eliminating the need for seven 300 MW coal plants or removing 4 million cars from our roads each year. In other words, it would offset twice what the entire state of Vermont produces in total emissions.
